PRINCESS ANNE - Genevieve Gladd Stone, 92, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Thursday, April 12, 2007, at Manokin Manor Nursing Home in Princess Anne.
Born in Higgins Corners, Pa., on July 12, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Carl Leonard Gladd and Agnes Cupples Gladd.
Mrs. Stone had formerly worked as a bookkeeper for the Pennsbury School System in Fallsingston, Pa., for 20 years retiring in 1973. She and her husband, Howard, resided in Crisfield from 1978 to 2001 where she was a member of the St. Peters Church. She enjoyed traveling, family reunions and especially visiting her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Howard K. Stone of Princess Anne; two sons, Francis L. Stone and his wife Bonnie of Princess Anne and James W. Stone and his wife Barbara of Annapolis; grandchildren, David Stone and his wife Jill of Princess Anne, Karen Stone Scott of Salisbury, Julie Stone Peterson and her husband Bob of Crofton and Ken Stone and his wife Jennifer of Gambrills; great-grandchildren, Matthew Scott, Luke Scott, Robert Peterson, David Peterson, Michael Peterson, Sydney Stone and Cooper Stone. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Clarence and John of Butler, Pa., and by four sisters, Margarite of Elberon, N.J., Grace of Butler, Pauline of Glen Burnie and Dorothy of Greenville, Pa.
A funeral service was held Sunday at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne. Burial was held in Beechwood Cemetery in Princess Anne. The Rev. Tom Blakelock officiated.
