SALISBURY - Frederick D. "Freddie" King, Sr. died Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, at his home. Born here, he was the son of the late Ollie and Mary Cottman King. He was a 1966 graduate of James M. Bennett High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War, receiving and honorable discharge. In 1969, he enrolled at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, receiving a B.A. degree in industrial arts. He taught Industrial Arts for over five years at Sudbrook Middle School in Pikesville. He was a member of Friendship U.M. Church in Allen and was also a former member of the VFW Post No. 10159 in Salisbury and the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. His survivors include his wife, Barbara A. King, of Princess Anne; three children, Jefferson King, of Baltimore, Frederick King, Jr., of Columbia, and Christine Jones, of Salisbury; six grandchildren; one sister, Mary Fields, of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers preceded him in death, Ollie, Jr., Wilbert and Gable King. A funeral service was held Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at Jolley Memorial Chapel in Salisbury.
