GEORGETOWN, Del. - Franklin Raye Adams, 59, of Georgetown, formerly of Somerset County and a former county official, suffered a heart attack Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 while visiting Somerset County Treasurer Charles L. Muir and was later pronounced dead at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield on March 1, 1948, he was a son of Marie A. Cowger Adams and the late Mitchell W. Adams.

Frank grew up on a farm in Somerset County, was a graduate of Washington High School in Princess Anne and received a Bachelors of Science degree and M.B.A. from Salisbury University. He was a Certified Public Accountant.

Prior to being currently employed as the finance director for the town of Georgetown, he held the same position for Somerset County from 1995 to 2004. He was also formerly with the CIA and the U.S. Army Security Agency. An avid runner, he also loved hunting, fishing and all outdoor activities. Frank loved life, his family, playing guitar and the banjo and also enjoyed gardening and cooking. He was a beekeeper and a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife Lidia Baca of Georgetown; a daughter, Jessica A. Adams of Salisbury; a grandson, Hunter Mitchell Adams; two step-daughters, Rebecca Smith and Vivian Smith of Georgetown; a sister, Gladys Mae Ennis of Pocomoke and Ronald W. Adams and his wife, Deborah, of Snow Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Sunday at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne. The Rev. Tommy Maddox officiated. Interment was in Rehobeth Baptist Cemetery in Rehobeth, Md.
