Frances L. Bell, 88 VIENNA - Frances L. Bell, passed away Thursday morning, March 11, 2010, in Transitions Healthcare at Sykesville, Sykesville, Md. She was 88. Born April 25, 1921 in Drawbridge, she was the daughter of the late Samuel A. Lawson and B. Golda Willey Lawson. On August 18, 1938, she married G. Winfield (Winnie) Bell. Mr. Bell died May 16, 2001. Mrs. Bell worked for the Dorchester County Board of Education as a Teachers Aide for 24 years at Vienna Elementary School and Maple Elementary School. She also assisted her husband for 10 years at his grocery store, Winnie Bell's Grocery Store in Vienna. Mrs. Bell was a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church and was an active member of the United Methodist Women (UMW). Mrs. Bell was also a seamstress and liked to knit and sew. She also liked gardening. Preceding her in death, besides her parents and husband, was a sister, Dorothy Taylor; and three brothers, Walter Lawson, Wilfred Lawson and Samuel Lawson. Surviving is her daughter, Wende B. Abbott of Taneytown; three sisters, Danelle McWatters of Baltimore, Lorraine Tyler of Arizona and Nancy Alley of Glen Burnie; two brothers, James Lawson of Salisbury and Thomas Lawson of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Brent Abbott and his wife Michelle, and Amy Abbott; two great-grandchildren, Brent Abbott Jr. and Jasmine Howell; and nieces and nephews. The family received friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 15, at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, at Vienna United Methodist Church. Officiating at the service was The Rev. James C. Bongard, Pastor. Burial followed at Dorchester Memorial Park.
