By Dave Ryan Dorchester Banner SHILOH – Karlie and Kathryn Allen, Jessica Young and Da’Vion Dockins are enjoying the rewards of their success in sports and academics, having been named North Dorchester High School’s September Athletes of the Month. On Friday, Jen Garner of Olive Garden restaurant in Easton came to Shiloh to present gift cards to the Allens and Da’Vion, who are the varsity winners. Jessica, the JV winner, received movie passes. The program will continue to encourage the good example set by the most successful Eagles. ND’s Athletic Director Dave Morrissette said, “I have nine sponsors lined up.” A statement from his team said, “Da’Vion Dockins is a senior leader on the NDHS cross country team. He comes to practice ready to work hard every day. Da’Vion recently came in 12th place out of 127 male runners at the Rumble in the Jungle at C-SD. His personal best time for a 3-mile cross country race is 18:11. He is a three-time state qualifier and we are looking forward to seeing him soar this year, as well. Da’Vion is also carrying a 3.6 GPA to start the year academically for NDHS.” “Karlie and Kathryn Allen have been on the varsity volleyball team since they were freshmen,” a statement from their team said. “Over the last four years, they have both improved their skills tremendously. Kathryn is one of three setters on the varsity squad, and Karlie is a strong outside hitter. Both girls have worked to become good servers as well.” “They have a great work ethic and are always at practice with smiles on their faces. They give 100 percent at every practice and game and have worked on their skills outside of the school, also playing for DVA in the off-season,” the statement continued. “From a coach’s perspective, they are ideal athletes — always having good attitudes and working hard to improve. Both Karlie and Kathryn are currently carrying a 4.0 GPA to start the year academically for NDHS.” Jessica Young’s skills are improving fast. Now in her second year, she shows the dedication to continue moving up. “She has improved tremendously this year, and is a great example and leader for the younger players,” the statement said. “She attended clinics over the summer and has worked hard to become a strong hitter and blocker. She has also become a strong and consistent server. The combination of her height and hard work make her a great asset to our team.” Jessica is currently carrying a 4.0 GPA to start the year academically for NDHS.
