CAMBRIDGE — There were decisions made, despite very light turnout, at Tuesday’s primary election for upcoming City Commissioner candidates. Two wards are being contested in the upcoming city election, and in Tuesday’s vote three candidates in each ward were cut down to two candidates for the general election.

In Ward 3, incumbent Frank Cooke took the most votes with 107, followed by La-Shon Foster with 93 votes, and Armah Dashiell with 33. In Ward 3, Mr. Cooke and Ms. Foster will be the candidates on the ballot.

Ward 4 voting found Dion Banks with 78 votes, Dave Cannon with 77 votes, and Carlos Wilson with 47. Mr. Banks and Mr. Cannon will be the candidates for Ward 4 at the city election in July.

Wards 1, 2 and 5 are uncontested, with one candidate each. Stephan Rideout is the candidate for Ward 1, and incumbents Donald Sydnor and Robert Hanson are the candidates for Wards 2 and 5, respectively. They mayor’s position is also uncontested, with former mayor Victoria Jackson-Stanley as the sole candidate for Mayor of Cambridge.

General Election for Mayor and all Wards will be held July 12, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Governors Hall at Sailwinds Park. Absentee ballots may be picked up at City Hall.

Editor’s note: In the interest of full disclosure, Dave Cannon is currently the General Manager for the Dorchester Banner.
