CAMBRIDGE — The Wings & Wheels festival returned to Cambridge-Dorchester Regional Airport this past Saturday. Airplane and helicopter rides, a car and bike (and tractor) show, and plenty of things for kids to do highlighted the event.

Wings & Wheels started as a fly-in for local pilots prior to 2008, when the name changed and a variety of additional attractions were added to the roster. The event was hosted by Ted Bryant and Carla Spear of B&B Aviation, located at the airport.

There was glorious weather on hand for the event this year, and a large number of participants descended on the site and filled the taxiway with interesting planes and people, and plenty of opportunities to take wing. Aerobatic pilots Bill Finagin, Glen Becker and Mark Meredith put their planes on display, though they were no allowed to perform at the event due to airspace regulations enacted since the last festival in 2015. Biplane and helicopter rides were available to anyone interested during the event from other vendors in attendance.

The Blackwater band played for the crowd in the vendor area, and kids frolicked on huge bouncy-house inflatables and visited the petting zoo. It was a great way to spend a sunny afternoon in Dorchester County!
