Florence E. Abbott, 87

CAMBRIDGE - Florence E. Abbott, 87, died Tuesday afternoon, April 8, 2008 at Dorchester General Hospital.

Born on April 21, 1920 at Caine's Ditch, Dorchester County, she was the daughter of the late Cleveland Elzey and Lennie Hurley Elzey.

She was the wife of the late Ernest Abbott.

For most of her working life, she was a waitress where she worked for 25 years at Jones & Moore on Race Street and for 10 years at The Recreation Center, Poplar Street.

She was the member of the Town Point Beagle Club. One of her greatest enjoyments was taking care of her family.

Surviving is a daughter, Carolyn Tyler and her husband, Bill of Cambridge; two sons, Ernest "Tubbie" Abbott and his wife, Lori of East New Market, Donald Abbott and his wife, Kathy of Cambridge; a sister, Louise Wilson of Kings, Wis.; nine grandchildren, Kim Bair and her husband, Bill, Danny Insley, Greg Insley and his wife, Carla, Nikkie Pool and her husband, Stephen, Jeff Abbott and his wife, Tracey, Dawn Vosburge and her husband, Mike, Debbie Davis and her husband, Michael, Chris Abbott and Steven Abbott; 11 great-grandchildren, Brittany Binder, Collin Bair, Amanda Bair, Alexia Bair, Corbin Insley, Chloe Insley, Brandon Pool, Kelsey Abbott, Noah Abbott, Jake Vosburge, Jacob Hughes and Shawn Vosburge; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, at Dorchester Memorial Park. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Mary Ann Farnell. Following the service there will be a reception at Friendship United Methodist Church Hall.

Expressions of sympathy may be made by sending flowers or making memorial offerings to the American Cancer Society, c/o Doris Weber, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
