ROCK HALL - Evelyn S. Hart, 89, formerly of Lakesville, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2007, at the Chester River Hospital Center in Chestertown.
She was born at Wesley in Dorchester County on Feb. 17, 1918, and was a daughter of the late John Emory and Laura Ellen Hughes Moore.
She attended schools at Wesley. On April 15, 1939, she was married to Henry Nelson Hart. Mr. Hart passed away July 26, 1969.
Before she was married she worked in a local sewing factory. Mrs. Hart later worked on the family farm with her husband. Some years later she had worked at I.F. Cannon & Son.
Mrs. Hart lived in the Lakesville area most of her life. She had been a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and later attended services on the Crapo Charge. Some years ago she enjoyed quilt making, sewing cooking as well as entertaining company. She had been in failing health for the past two years.
Survivors include one daughter, Joan E. Stevens of Rock hall; two sons, Gilbert N. Hart of Lakesville and Dewey E. Hart and his wife Dianna L. Hart of Lakesville. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Jeannie Maxey, Donna Raye Blann, Kristina Clough, Tami Koletsky, Dewey E. Hart Jr., Antoinette Legg, Rose Wallace, Patricia Stevens and Michael Stevens. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Emma Gore of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordy Moore and Emerson Moore, and one sister, Maggie Todd.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Gary Crouch officiating. Burial will take place at Dorchester Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
Pallbearers will be Robert Legg, Michael Stevens, Brian Blann, Jerol D. Moore Jr., Scott Clough and Olwyn Maxey.
