CAMBRIDGE - Ellen Ruby Travers, of Cambridge, departed this life on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Dorchester General Hospital after a brief illness. She is survived by five children, Theresa White of Cambridge, Marian Gunter (Eugene) of Clayton, Del., William Travers (Raynette) of Cambridge, Peggy Travers (Maurice) of Cambridge, and James Travers (Teresa) of East New Market; two sisters, Marie Harris of Fort Washington, and Leona Travers of Cambridge; grandchildren, Dwayne Gunter of Baltimore, Troy Gunter of Los Angeles, Calif., Michelle Travers of Cambridge, Regina Hawkins (Charles) of Hartford County, William Manokey, Alton Travers, Marcus Travers, all of Cambridge, Eugene Travers (Leigh) of Brandon, Fla., Stephanie Travers, Brian Travers and Amanda Travers, all of East New Market; and a host of great-grandchildren, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at New Revelations Baptist Church, 711 Bradley Ave., Cambridge, with a viewing two hours prior to the services.
