MARDELA SPRINGS - Elaine M. Struve died at her home in Mardela Springs on Monday, June 25, 2018, surrounded by her family. Born in New Bedford, Mass., she was the daughter of Constantine and Estella Pittsley Sylvia.
The valedictorian at her high school, she graduated with honors from Brown University with a degree in international studies. After meeting her future husband, they each joined the U.S. Navy, where she served as a lieutenant.
She is survived by four children, Susan, Jay, David and Mark Struve; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; and her daughter, Sharon.
A private service will be held to honor her life. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
