CAMBRIDGE - Douglas C. Murphy, 64, of Cambridge, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Mallard Bay Care Center. He was born in Cambridge on Feb. 24, 1948, and was a son of the late Crawford O'Neal Murphy Sr. and Beatrice Brohawn Murphy. Mr. Murphy graduated from Cambridge High School and attended several years of college. He served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. He worked at Pep-Up as a service technician and later worked at Jesse Jr. and Sons. He enjoyed old muscle cars. Mr. Murphy was a member of Grace United Methodist Church since 1962. He is survived by a son, Corey A. Murphy of Abingdon, Md.; and a daughter, Mary Katherine Murphy of Baltimore; a grandson, Trent Jacob Murphy of Abingdon, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Linda Murphy and Joan M. Hurley; and two brothers, Barry B. Murphy and Crawford O'Neal Murphy Jr. Pallbearers will be Corey Murphy, Jon Masaracchia, Michael Bell, Jessie Eskridge, Johnny Matthews and Steve Bloodsworth. A funeral service will be held today, March 23, 2012, at noon at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Mr. Steve Bloodsworth officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon.
