BISHOPVILLE - Dorothy J. "Dot" Ellis, 73, also of Millsboro, Del., passed away Sunday, July 22, 2007, at her home in Millsboro. She had been in failing health for the past 2 1/2 years and died with her family by her side.

She was born in Cambridge, daughter of the late Leonard and Elizabeth Jones Robbins.

Mrs. Ellis was self-employed most of her life, with the latest business being pencil peddler office supplies in Ocean City. She donated many hours to the American Legion Auxiliary Post 166 in Ocean City, as well as to the Meals on Wheels program in lower Delaware.

She is survived by three daughters, Sharrie Schlere of Columbia, Julie Donahue of Bishopville and Leslie Bunting Scott of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, James Robbins of Atlantic, Beach, N.C.; five sisters, Shirley Dayton of Cambridge, Eve Burchette of Loudon, Tenn., Sis Chalk of Westminster, Louise Bradshaw of Trappe, Hazel Wilkerson of Rolling Rock, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Christopher Farlow, Carey Farlow, B.B. Oakley, Lizzie Donahue, Blair Donahue, Mattie Bunting, Jimmy Buntng and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ivy Messick, Faye Laird and Midge Wright.

A memorial service will be held in her memory at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Lighthouse Church of God on Sinepuxent Road in Berlin with Pastor Ron Soulsman officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Arrangements are being handled by the Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville, Del.
