CAMBRIDGE - Doris Robbins Waldis, 80, passed away at her home on Thursday, June 26, 2008.
She was born in Cambridge on June 20, 1928 and was a daughter of the late Otis and Mattie Robbins Robbins.
She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1945. On April 20, 1948 she was married to William F. Waldis.
Mrs. Waldis had worked as a bookkeeper at the Farmers & Merchants Bank in Cambridge for 25 years.
As a young woman she had attended Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed collecting teapots and bone dishes and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Mrs. Waldis also enjoyed spending time with her family as well as monthly gatherings of her high school class.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, William F. "Bill" Waldis of Cambridge; one daughter, L. Marlene Waldis of Cambridge; a son-in-law, Glenn Elzey of Coralville, Iowa; one sister, Elsie Callison of Cambridge; a sister-in-law, Pauline Robbins of Cambridge and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Elzey; two sisters, Alice Lowe and Lottie Love and two brothers, Earl Robbins and Luke Robbins.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Joan P. Evans officiating. Burial will follow at the Bucktown Churchyard. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel United Church of Christ, 5401 Whitehall Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
Pallbearers will be Donald L. Richardson, Vernon Hughes, Albert Phillips, Jack Waldis, Gerald Grindle and Allen Hoge.
