Stabbing
On Nov. 1, at approximately 11:37 p.m., Cambridge Police Department officers responded to the 500 block of Academy Street for a stabbing. Prior to their arrival, information was relayed that the victim and the suspect were still both on the scene and that the suspect may still be armed with a knife.
Initial contact was with the suspect, who was identified as a 35-year-old Cambridge man, who was observed to be bleeding from an injury. Officers were able to call him out of the residence where he was detained and received aid.
Officers then entered the residence and located the victim inside with multiple stab wounds. Officers rendered medical aid to the victim while waiting for Dorchester County EMS to respond. The victim subsequently was transported to Tidal Health Peninsula Regional Hospital in Salisbury for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Dorchester for treatment, was later released and transported to CPD for processing. While in processing, he attempted to assault an officer, a statement from the CPD said.
Mateicus Danyale Norman was charged with the following, had his initial appearance before a court commissioner and turned over to the Dorchester County Detention Center on no bond.
On Nov. 2, at approximately 12:14 a.m., Norman was found to have an active bench warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court on June 6 on an original charge of theft less than $100 value. Norman had his initial appearance before a court commissioner and was turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections.
Assault
On Oct. 31, at approximately 10 a.m., CPD officers responded to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Cambridge for an assault investigation. Contact was made with the victim who reported an assault by a 36-year-old Cambridge man.
Officers learned that the assault had allegedly occurred Oct. 26 at approximately 11 p.m. in the 300 block of Crusader Road. The victim reported being struck multiple times with a hammer by the man, who took the victim’s car keys to prevent the victim from leaving from the location. There were signs of injury that were consistent with the assault that was reported, a statement from the CPD said.
On Oct. 31, CPD officers located the suspect, who was arrested without incident. He was turned over to the Dorchester County Detention Center on no bond.

CDS violation
On Oct. 31, at approximately 2 p.m., CPD officers responded to the area of McBride Avenue and Mace’s Lane for a welfare check. Contact was made with a 45-year-old Cambridge woman, who was found to be in possession of heroin.
Dawn Michelle Hackney was placed under arrest and transported to CPD for processing. Hackney was issued a criminal citation and released on her signature. Hackney was charged with CDS possession not cannabis.
Failure to appear
On Nov. 1, at approximately 9:23 a.m., CPD officers located William Alvin Grierson IV, age 31 of Preston, at District Court. Grierson had an active bench warrant out of Caroline County for failure to appear in court on Oct. 4 on the original charges of driving suspended.
Grierson was arrested and transported to CPD for processing. Grierson had his initial appearance before a court commissioner and was released on his personal recognizance.
Robbery
On Nov. 1, at approximately 11:23 a.m., CPD officers located a 55-year-old Cambridge man in the 700 block of Race Street who had an active arrest warrant. He was arrested and transported to CPD for processing, where he was served the warrant, had his initial appearance before a court commissioner and turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on no bond. Jesse Gibbons Jr. was charged with robbery, stemming from an incident that occurred Oct. 21 at approximately 6:04 p.m. in the 600 block of Race Street.
The victim reported to officers being punched in the face and having money stolen.
Gibbons also had an active Circuit Court arrest warrant for violation of probation. He was arrested and transported to CPD for processing, had his initial appearance before a court commissioner and was turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on no bond.
On the same day and time, Gibbons was served a criminal summons and later released from the summons on his signature. He was charged with second-degree assault, stemming from an incident with a citizen on Oct. 21 in the 700 block of Race Street. During the altercation, the victim was allegedly assaulted by Gibbons. The victim filed for charges at the District Court Commissioner’s Office where a criminal summons was issued.
Disorderly conduct
On Nov. 1, at approximately 5:19 p.m., CPD officers responded to Walgreens for a report of a customer who was being disorderly in the store. Contact was made with management of the establishment who relayed to officers the actions that the subject was displaying, which had caused a disturbance inside of the store.
Carol Ann Wicker, 52 years old of Cambridge, was issued a criminal citation and released from the scene on her signature. Wicker was charged with disorderly conduct.
Failure to appear
On Nov. 1, at approximately 8:54 p.m., CPD officers located a 33-year-old Cambridge woman in the 800 block of Park Lane, who had an active body attachment for her arrest for failure to appear in court on Sept. 26.
Ashley Lateisha Brattley was arrested and transported to CPD for processing. Brattley had her initial appearance before a court commissioner and was released on her personal recognizance.
Assault
On Nov. 1, at approximately 11:05 a.m., CPD officers met with a 27-year-old Cambridge man at CPD.
Draquan Tremarr Young had an active bench warrant for failure to appear in court on June 1 on original charges of assault second degree, obstruct and hindering, resist arrest and disorderly conduct. Young had his initial appearance before a court commissioner and released on $10,000 unsecured bond.
Driving suspended
On Nov. 3, at approximately 10:25 a.m., CPD officers located a 35-year-old Bridgeville, Delaware, man at District Court.
Luis Antonio Vazques Jr. had an active bench warrant for his arrest. Vazques was transported to CPD for processing where the bench warrant for failure to appear in court on Sept. 19 on the original charge of driving suspended was served. Vazques had his initial appearance before a court commissioner and was released on his personal recognizance.
Rogue and vagabond
On Nov. 4, at approximately 12:08 p.m., CPD officers located a 35-year-old Cambridge man at District Court.
Taron Kamar Durel Jones had an active bench warrant for failure to appear in court on Nov. 1 on the original charge of theft $100 to under $1,500 and rogue and vagabond. Jones was transported to CPD for processing. Jones had his initial appearance before a court commissioner and was released on his personal recognizance.
