CAMBRIDGE — The Dorchester County Health Department announced Saturday evening the county’s first death as a result of COVID-19. The resident, a female in her 60s, was hospitalized with no underlying medical conditions.

“We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of one of our residents,” Deputy Health Officer Dr. Casey Scott said. “Unfortunately, this highlights the seriousness of this virus, and the grimness of our current situation. Please keep the deceased and her family in your thoughts and prayers.”

To date, Dorchester County has a total of 12 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
