“The Heart of the Chesapeake” Christmas Tree displayed now through Jan. 3, 2016 CAMBRIDGE — The Dorchester County Garden Club was one of 24 Maryland county garden clubs invited to display a Christmas Tree at the Annapolis State House for the 2015 holiday season. The Club’s committee chose “The Heart of the Chesapeake” as the theme for the tree in keeping with the county’s heart-shaped topography. The committee thoughtfully incorporated all aspects of life in Dorchester County, including history, agriculture, the environment and local industry in their selection of decorations for the Dorchester County tree. Governor Larry Hogan and First Lady Yumi Hogan welcomed members as they delivered and decorated the tree on Nov. 30 and presented club president, Julia Berman, with a special ornament and certificate of appreciation. Ms. Berman noted “Dorchester County and our Garden Club can be very proud of our design and handiwork. It is truly lovely.” “I can’t think of a better way to get into the holiday spirit than by decorating Christmas trees with Marylanders from all parts of the state,” said Governor Hogan. “I want to thank all of the participating garden clubs for putting their time, talents, and creativity into helping to deck the halls of the State House.” The trees will be on display in the State House through Jan. 3. Visitors are welcome Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. A photo ID is needed to enter the building.
