FAFSA deadline

The Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) wants to increase the number of students completing and submitting their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form before the May 15 State Priority Deadline.

It's important that Maryland high school students submit their 2024-25 FAFSA form as soon as possible, because Maryland students may receive state financial aid from the information they provide on their federal FAFSA form. Each year, MHEC provides about 65,000 students with more than $130 million in state financial aid to attend college.

According to the National College Attainment Network, as of March 22, 2024, only 36.8% of Maryland high school seniors had submitted their FAFSA. The priority deadline for submitting the FAFSA application was extended from March 15 to May 15. However, students should complete and submit their forms as soon as possible to be eligible for state financial aid.

MCAP Testing Dates - RELA MATH Grades 6-8: April 29-May 4; Social Studies MCAP Grade 8 only May 6-May 9

Parents are asked to have a conversation with their children regarding taking MCAP seriously, completing all writing prompts, relinquishing cellphones and not disrupting the testing. This not only affects individual children but also has an impact on their peers. Many students missed the next score level because they did not attempt the writing portions.
