Dorchester County Public Schools
Calling all seniors of the Class of 2024! Learn more about money available to help you continue your education at the Office of Student Services’ Scholarship Fair on Wednesday, 5:30–7 p.m. at Dorchester Career and Technology Center (DCTC).
While open to all DCPS students and families, it is especially for all graduating seniors. Meet representatives from local organizations to learn more about scholarship opportunities. The following organizations are confirmed:
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. – Kappa Theta Omega Chapter
Auxiliary of Dorchester General Hospital
Chesapeake College
Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. – Cambridge Alumnae Chapter
Dorchester Chamber of Commerce
Midshore Community Foundation
St. John’s Chapel
Willie J. Sydnor Memorial Organization
Cambridge-South Dorchester High School and North Dorchester High School will have two-hour delays due to Math and RELA state assessments on the following dates:
Wednesday, Jan. 10
Thursday, Jan. 11
Friday, Jan. 12
Tuesday, Jan. 16
If your son or daughter is enrolled in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry or English II for semester one, then they need to report to school at the regular time on these dates. Students who are enrolled in other math courses and received a CCR letter will also need to report to testing on time. If your student does not need to test, they will report to school (via their regular mode of transportation) at 9:50 a.m.
Parents with questions about their students’ testing status should contact their school counselor.
Career and Tech Education Night
Bring your aspiring chef, teacher, mechanic, lab scientist or welder to Career and Technical Education Night at Dorchester Career and Technology Center to find out more about these fields plus all the others available at the school.
DCTC will be open to families from 4-6 p.m. Jan. 17, with instructors and current students on hand to answer questions. Elementary, middle and high school 9th and 10th graders all welcome.
Board of Education
The Board of Education of Dorchester County will conduct an open work session at 700 Glasgow St., Cambridge, on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The agenda can be accessed online via BoardDocs on the Dorchester County Public Schools website at dcps.k12.md.us.
All Board of Education Meetings will be livestreamed at townhallstreams.com/towns/dorchesterboe.
Gentlemen’s Club
The Dorchester County Gentlemen’s Club is open to the young gentlemen of North Dorchester High and Middle Schools, Cambridge-South Dorchester High and Mace’s Lane Middle School. The club meets every Wednesday afternoon from 3:15-4:15 p.m., virtually, for now. The club provides young men with cultural and leadership opportunities, activities not offered in home or classroom settings such as guest speakers, field trips, etc. and works to reinforce practical lessons taught at home and school. Register for spring classes at Wor-Wic
Wor-Wic Community College is currently accepting registrations for credit classes during the spring term, which begins Jan. 12. Early registration is encouraged for the best selection of classes.
Admission, financial aid, career exploration, enrollment coaching, academic advising and registration services are available Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Student services are also available on select Saturdays – check the events calendar at worwic.edu for dates and times.
