Dorchester Chamber announces new board members for 2017

CAMBRIDGE — The Dorchester Chamber of Commerce has released the names of three new Directors and the slate of officers for 2017.

“Three new Dorchester County business leaders have joined the Dorchester Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for 2017. Each of these leaders brings a wealth of knowledge and a high level of enthusiasm for the success of the Dorchester County Business Community. We are very excited to have these three individuals join the already dedicated and productive Board of Directors,” says Bill Christopher, executive director for the Chamber.

• Jermaine T. Anderson is currently a partner at Liv Again Boutique & Gallery and the ArtBar located at 317 High St. He was born and raised in Cambridge. He is a graduate of Cambridge-South Dorchester High School, a US Army Veteran, and a Graduate of Pennsylvania Culinary School. He has over 10 years working as a Cambridge Community Ambassador.

In 2010 he was selected among the list of “People to Watch” in 2010 What’s Up Eastern Shore Magazine. He served on the Mayor’s Steering Committee for the City’s Comprehensive Plan in 2007 and 2008. He also served as Co-Chairman of ATrain Alliance, aiding Young Minority and Women start-up entrepreneurs to take part in Civic Engagement from 2005 to 2008 and Chairman of the Board for Cambridge Lives Maple Street program in the Pine Street Community from 2009 to 2012. He served on the Harriet Tubman Conference Planning Board in 2013 and 2014.

• Scott Dorsey is an executive vice president with Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) a privately-owned firm and provider of reliability and engineering services for the utility industry. He has more than 25 years of experience in the industries of information technology, utility, and logistics. Scott’s professional affiliations include membership in the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the MD/DC Utilities Association.

He is currently serving as a Board Member for Habitat Choptank, is a member of the Gifted and Talented Advisory Council for the Maryland State Department of Education, and an IEEE committee member responsible for the development and implementation of new industry National Electrical Safety Code standards. Scott and his wife Ruth have lived in Cambridge since 2012 and are active supporters of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Chesapeake Bay and the Team Sanfilippo Foundation.

• John E. James Jr. is a lifelong Dorchester county native. Known as “Eddie” by most, he joined Koski Enterprises, Inc. in 2001. Eddie serves as vice president of Koski Enterprises, Inc. and Koski Trucking Inc., overseeing the day-to-day operations of the multifaceted warehousing and trucking company. Eddie previously had worked with the Dorchester County Recreation and Parks.

Some of his accomplishments are past President of the Cambridge Jaycees and he served as a Fire Chief for the Lloyds Volunteer Fire Company. Eddie and his wife Kim, also a lifelong Dorchester County resident, reside in Dorchester County. They have two children, John James III and Caitlin.

The Executive Committee for 2017 was also ratified by the Board of Directors at the Dec. 14, 2016 monthly meeting. President: Jeff Hubbard from Lane Engineering; President Elect: Lori Nagel from Whitten Insurance; Past President: Jennifer Layton from Layton’s Chance Vineyard and Winery; Vice President and Treasurer: Sarah Baugh from Parker Counts Attorneys at Law; and Vice President: Marty Mullaney from Mullaney Insurance.

These appointments and other Chamber activities will be reviewed at the 2017 Dorchester Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Dinner being held on Jan. 26, 2017 at the Hyatt Chesapeake Bay Resort and Spa.
