Special to Dorchester Banner/DCA The Dorchester Center for the Arts is announcing a call for artists for this year’s Annual Dorchester County Community Photography and Digital Arts Exhibit and Competition.[/caption] The Dorchester Center for the Arts (DCA) is announcing a Call for Artists for their Annual Dorchester County Community Photography & Digital Arts Exhibit and Competition. This Photography Show is open to the public and offers three divisions: Youth, Amateur Adult, and Professional Adult. The show will run Oct. 8 – Nov. 14. The show is judged and each photographer may enter up to three works. Submissions must be original, completed within the last two years, and never before shown at DCA. Please number submissions in order of preference, in the unlikely event that we exceed our space. All photographs must be either gallery wrapped or mounted/matted, framed, under glass or plexiglass and properly wired, ready to hand. Digitally enhanced or altered photos and photo collages are acceptable, however, if extensive computer manipulation has been used, a note of that must be included on the Registration and Entry forms. Judging will be based upon the following criteria: quality of the photograph, originality, composition and overall presentation. Cash awards will be presented at the awards ceremony on Oct. 10 in each of the three divisions, plus a cash prize will be awarded for Best Waterscape. In addition, a DCA gift certificate will be presented for Best in Show, and ribbons will be awarded for People’s Choice and honorable mentions. There is no fee to submit for the Youth Division (18 and under); Amateur Adult Division fees are $8 per photo for DCA members, $10 for non-members; and Professional Adult Division fees are $10 for DCA members, $12 for non-members. Registration forms are due by Sept. 26, and all entries must be delivered to DCA during Oct. 3-5, between 10 a.m and 4 p.m. For more information call 410-228-7782, or visit the website at dorchesterarts.org. Registration forms are available at DCA, located at 321 High St. in Cambridge, and also on the website at dorchesterarts.org.
