TODDVILLE - Dora Pearl Pritchett Murphy, of Toddville, died on Saturday afternoon, March 21, 2009, at Dorchester General Hospital. She was 90. Born on April 7, 1918, in Toddville, Dorchester County, she was the daughter of the late Hilliary Vincent Pritchett and Areita Blithe Meredith Pritchett. On Jan. 22, 1940, she married Lois Winfield Murphy. He died on Oct. 8, 1987. Mrs. Murphy was a life-long, devoted member of St. Thomas United Methodist Church, Toddville. Mrs. Murphy was a crab picker for all of her working life. She had worked for Dorchester Crab Company and even picked up to November of last year. Mrs. Murphy was known and respected for her good outlook on life. She took pride in her home where she enjoyed entertaining her family and friends. She loved her family and cherished times with friends over lunch and car rides. She enjoyed flowers and bird watching. Surviving is a daughter, Lois Henry of Linkwood; a son, Allan Vincent Murphy of Fowlerville, Mich.; a sister, Amy Loraine Phillips of Cambridge; a brother, Edward Roosevelt Pritchett of Hollywood, Fla.; six grandchildren, Robert Lee Henry and his wife Kim of Laurel, Del., Alan Scott Henry and his wife Stephanie of East New Market, Michael Gene Henry and his wife Melissa of East New Market, Lisa Lou Murphy, Stephen David Murphy, and Julie Ann Evens and her husband Matt of Howell, Mich.; ten great-grandchildren, Alaina Catherine Henry, Taylor Scott Henry, Lauren Ashley Henry, Kaitlyn Marie Henry, Tori Leigh Henry, John Michael Henry, Trey Robert Henry, Ryan Everett Henry, James Mathew Evens and Samantha Irene Evens; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband, was her son-in-law, Alva Lee Henry; sister, Julia Louise Bramble; two brothers-in-law, Philip L. Bramble and Amos Phillips; and a niece, Karen Murphy. The family received friends Monday evening, March 23 at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, March 24 at the funeral home. Officiating at the service was the Rev. David L. Kreek. Burial followed at Dorchester Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Robert Henry, Scott Henry, Michael Henry, Taylor Henry, Gary Shockley and Charles Smith. Honorary Pallbearers were William Cox, Donald Mills, Reg Todd, Ray Thoman, Zach Seaman and Allen Elzey.
