Donald Woodrow Fitzhugh

CAMBRIDGE - Donald Woodrow Fitzhugh passed away on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018 at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Cambridge, he was the son of Barbara Mae Abbott Fitzhugh of Cambridge and the late Omro Fitzhugh.
He owned and operated his own nursery and flower shop (Backwoods Garden) for 35 years, retiring in 2011. Donald loved pigeons and belonged to several pigeon clubs. He was an avid bingo player and enjoyed helping in the kitchen at St. John's Church and the Mac Center for senior dinners.
In addition to his mother, Donald is survived by his sister, Barbara Ann Jackson and her boyfriend, Nelson Mills of Cambridge; three aunts, Louise Turner Phral, Joy Holhbein, and Loretta Dibble, all of Cambridge; and several cousins.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park in Cambridge. Rev. Barry Groh officiated.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dorchester Humane Society.
