Delores Elizabeth Ross

Delores Elizabeth Ross, 85 CAMBRIDGE - Delores Elizabeth Ross, of Cambridge, departed this life on Monday, August 18, 2008 in Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in Williamsburg, Va. She was 85. Born June 19, 1923 in Baltimore, daughter of the late Hanson Faunteroy and Elsie Fuller. Mrs. Ross was raised by Albert and Elizabeth Woolford Deshields. She was married Calvin Ross who preceded her in death in 1992. Mrs. Ross was employed by the Board of Education as a cafeteria worker. After retiring, she became self-employed as a day care provider. She was a faithful and life long member of Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church where she served as a member of the Angelic Choir for over 65 years, chaplain and member of the United Methodist Women, Waugh Prayer Warriors, Senior Choir and the Hot Meals Program. She was a strong supporter of all Waugh Ministries with her presence and resources. Her favorite hymns were, "The Only Hope We Have", He's Done So Much For Me", I'm So Grateful" and "Holding My Saviours Hand." After relocating to Virginia with her grandchildren, she attended Chickahominy Baptist Church where she was the mother of the church. Her memory shall always be cherished by her spiritually adoptive daughter, Malinda Allen (Salisbury Md); spiritually adoptive granddaughters and grandsons, Tawanda and Rev. Corwin Hammond (Williamsburg, Va)., Tamiko Neal (Washington, D.C.), Jonathan Taylor (Salisbury MD); spiritually adoptive great-grandchildren, PV2 Patrick McGill Jr. (now serving in Iraq), Ellis McGill, Corwin Hammond Jr., Montaz Hood, Jasmine Neal, Joshua Evans, Summer and Davion; great grandson, Montay Hood and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, in Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church 425 High St Cambridge with a viewing Friday evening 6 to 8 p.m. in Henry Funeral Home, PA 510 Washington St., Cambridge, and from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the church.
