Medical Services Class of 2016

CAMBRIDGE — Senior students who have gained certification in the Medical Services program at the Dorchester Career and Technology Center participated in their pinning ceremony on April 20. The ceremony was planned and conducted by the Medical Services students. Mr. Hines and Dr. Wagner were the speakers for the ceremony.

The pinning ceremony is the culmination of two years of hard work for these students. Their studies have included large doses of anatomy and physiology and a strong emphasis on signs and symptoms of disease processes, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.

Professional behaviors, as part of the health care level of responsibilities, and documentation using medical terminology and diagnoses are stressed. Changes in the treatment of illness and stressing wellness as a result of technological advances are also examined. The students completed their clinical internships at Chesapeake Woods and Pleasant Day Adult Day Care.

Students have taken the Maryland Certified Nursing Assistant Exam for successful completion of this course of study.

Students participating in the ceremony were Taylor Baker, Aignera Chase, Andrew Clark, Zakiya Collins, Jinece Dixon, Autumn Hassler, Katelyn Jaso, Ke’Isha Johnson, Caitlyn McCaslin, Ka’Shauna McKenrick, Robert Miller, ShaBrea Molock, Megan Owens, Clive Rhoden, Oliva Ross, Brianna Thomas, Sierra Tippett and Breauna Wheatley.
