The Dorchester Center for the Arts announce the complete list of winners from its annual Members’ Show and Sale. Awards were given at the recent Second Saturday Reception held at the facility. Receiving ribbons were: • Peoples’ Choice: “Dorchester’s Finest,” Dee Terry • Judge’s Choice: “Magnolia V” Willa Klingensmith “Lil Dan,” Allison Wagner “Earrings and Necklace,” Jennie Seifert • Most Creative: “Sand for the Mix,” Robert Manning • Best Depiction of Dorchester County: “Last of the Season,” Carla Huber • Best in Show: “Farmhouse in Field,” Ann Allbeury-Hock • Honorable Mention: “So Relaxing,” Barbara Zuelke

DCA extends its appreciation to 1880 Bank for sponsoring this month’s exhibit, and to Guest Judge, Robert “Bob” Tolley. Talisman Jewelry − one day workshop with found artist Karen O’Dowd Create personalized pendants, earrings, or bracelets from found objects: repurposed tin, watch parts, fuses, jewelry, hardware, and other items from the junk drawers, yard sales, or thrift shop. The result will be unique pieces that are spiritual, sentimental, and filled with an abundance of “heart.” The workshop will be held Feb. 28, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The cost is $80 for DCA members; $110 for non-members, plus $15 materials fee payable to instructor on the class date. DCA announces Community Art Grant Awards The Dorchester Center for the Arts (DCA) recently awarded Community Art Grants for the January – June 2015 term. As the designated County Arts Council, with funding received from the Maryland State Arts Council, DCA re-grants funds for activities and events that promote the arts in Dorchester County. Receiving awards were: • Christ Church Concert Series • Chesapeake Chamber Music DCA receives grants Dorchester Center for the Arts extends its appreciation to two local foundations that have given to the organization in recent weeks. Special thanks go to the Waddell Foundation and the Jean T. and Heyward G. Pelham Foundation for their generous support of operations at the Center. “As arts funding is once again being threatened in Maryland, we are so pleased that we have received this support, and are grateful for the generosity of these foundations,” stated Mickey Love, executive director.
