STEVENSVILLE — On Oct. 31, Caroline County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Cpl. Stacey DeWitt competed in the USPC Grit Iron Classic at The Edge Training Academy and ended the meet successfully with another first-place finish in the 82.5kg Master’s Division. She has a previous first-place finish at the State Championships.

This was a smaller powerlifting meet with only 16 lifters and the first time the USPC has been on the Eastern Shore, but Cpl. DeWitt said it was just as fun and serious as the Maryland State Championships. Since the USPC is a brand-new powerlifting federation, established this year, this was Cpl. DeWitt’s first meet with the United States Powerlifting Coalition, but is her second successful meet in 2020.

Cpl. DeWitt ended the day going 8 for 9 with a total weight lifted of 727lb (Squat: 220 pounds, Bench: 192.9 pounds, Deadlift: 314.1 pounds).
As the USPC is a new federation, state records are still being established. However, that didn’t stop Cpl. DeWitt from increasing her total by 60 pounds since her last meet on Aug. 1, and setting a new personal record in the deadlift.

Cpl. DeWitt said once again she owes a lot to her wife and biggest supporter; Natalie DeWitt, who still continues to push her to her limits inside the gym. Cpl. DeWitt also mentioned she was mentored/coached by a fellow past powerlifter/record holder Dan Hernandez, who resides in Caroline County.

So, what is next for Cpl. DeWitt? She says she just took on the position of USPC State Chair for Maryland and Delaware and will be looking for gyms in both Maryland and Delaware to host future meets along with people who are interested in becoming a judge with the USPC.
Cpl. DeWitt says her goal is to bring more USPC meets to Delaware and across the Eastern Shore. Cpl. DeWitt also mentioned she is going to continue to train but is going to focus on coaching her 15-year-old daughter, who just started her journey in Powerlifting.

She is hoping for her daughter to compete in an April meet with the USPC, and she is hoping to lift at a USPC Meet in Kentucky in June 2021.
