Corbett B. "Jimmy" Robbins Jr.

ROBBINS - Corbett B. "Jimmy" Robbins Jr., 77, passed away at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury on Wednesday, April 18, 2007.

He was born at Robbins on Nov. 16, 1929, and was a son of the late Corbett Benona and Mary Andrews Robbins Sr.

He attended schools at Robbins, and some years ago he had worked for Baker Robbins. Mr. Robbins later worked for the Dorchester Co. Highway Department for 30 years as an equipment operator and retired in 1991.

On June 7, 1953, he was married to the former Nancy Ruark. Mr. Robbins enjoyed trapping as well as making model airplanes. He enjoyed fishing and boating and the outdoors and nature in general and he had also enjoyed gardening.

Mr. Robbins had been in failing health for several years and had been a patient at the PRMC.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Woodrow F. Robbins and his wife, Dolores N. Robbins of Trappe; one daughter, Cynthia L. Jones and her husband, John Paul Jones of East New Market; three grandsons, Scott Jones of Fishing Creek, D.J. Robbins of Lakenheath, England, and Corbett Robbins of Trappe; and one great-granddaughter, Elena Scott Jones. He is also survived by a sister, Alma Creighton of Robbins; one special nephew, whom he had raised, Jefferson Robbins of Delmar, Del.; and one special niece, Lana Wilde, of Crapo, whom he had raised; and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Robbins, and a granddaughter, Sophia Robbins.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Gary Crouch officiating. Burial will follow at Sandy Island Cemetery. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bounds United Methodist Church, c/o Crenia Robbins, 200 Meteor Ave., Apt. 101, Cambridge, MD 21613.

Pallbearers will be Roy Mills, George Wroten, Gary Phillips, David Weber, Wayne Stanley and Donald Moore.
