Command Spanish® Training for the workplace now available

CAMBRIDGE — The Education Department of Chesapeake College is an Official Registered Provider of Command Spanish®, Inc. language and cross-cultural training programs.

Command Spanish®, Inc. is the nation’s leading provider of occupational Spanish language and cross-cultural training and materials. As an Official Registered Provider, the college can offer on-site, job-specific Spanish language and cross-cultural training in such diverse areas as nursing, law enforcement, dentistry, public safety, construction, hospitality, banking, office management, warehousing, manufacturing and retail sales.

On-campus, open enrollment courses are also offered based on community interests. The programs are all non-grammar based. No previous Spanish experience is necessary to enroll in Command Spanish® courses, which are low-stress and occupational-specific.

COMMUNITY SPANISH FOR ENGLISH SPEAKERS

This course is designed to teach students to communicate in Spanish. Instruction will focus on pronunciation of words, common phrases, and some functional language skills dedicated to help the none Spanish speaker understand Spanish commands, questions and phrases. Topics include: vowel sounds, consonant sounds, declarative, interrogative and exclamatory structures and basic vocabulary.

Tuition: In-county $5, Out-of-county $10, Out-of-state $15. Course fee $135. Course materials included.

SPANISH FOR REQUESTING PERSONAL INFORMATION AND DATA

This continuing education course is designed to provide immediate access to functional language skills for non-Spanish speaking individuals who may need to acquire information and data from Spanish speakers.

Instruction will focus on phonetic encoding to address the most important Spanish commands, questions and phrases pertinent to daily interactions. Topics include one-way communication in order to secure personal information and data from Spanish speakers.

Tuition: In-county $5, Out-of-county $10, Out-of-state $15. Course fee $145. Course materials included.

SPANISH FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT

This continuing education course is designed for law enforcement professionals and will provide instruction on the basics of the Spanish language. Topics include basic information

inquires, basic law enforcement commands, recognizing dangerous phrases or words, and building community relations.

Tuition: In-county $5, Out-of-county $10, Out-of-state $15. Course fee $145. Course materials included.
