CAMBRIDGE — The city will do its best to triumph over the weather this coming weekend, for the 67th annual Cambridge-Dorchester County Christmas Parade. Canceled last year because of rain, this year the weather outlook looks good, and if not there is a rain date of Dec. 6 at 2 p.m.

This year’s parade is themed as “A North Pole Fantasy.” “Our parade committee is honored again this year to bring some Christmas excitement and our view of the North Pole to downtown Cambridge,” said Bruce McWilliams, parade chairman.

Serving as Grand Marshal this year is 2014 Miss Maryland title holder Jade Kenney, a resident of Madison and a source of pride for everyone in Dorchester County.

New this year will be a performance of the Spark In Da Pan steel drum band, who will be performing at the reviewing stand in the Craig’s Drug Store parking lot at 4 p.m. In the same location, the lighting of the Main Street Bushel Basket Tree will be held at 4:45 p.m.

The parade will start immediately following the basket tree lighting, and will begin at Long Wharf. The parade route will ascend High Street to Poplar Street, continue down Race Street and end at the intersection of Race and Muir Streets. The parade will begin at 5 p.m. sharp on Dec. 5, with a rain date of 2 p.m. on Dec. 6 if necessary.
