Come to Historic Handsell on Indiantown Road north of Vienna to see the Chicone Longhouse and Garden and witness life of the native people by cultural historic and native interpreter, Daniel Firehawk Abbott on Chicone Village Day this Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
The Pocomoke Indian Nation will also be there with their dug-out canoe and will talk about how these vessels were made by the native people. There will be artifact displays and an archaeological sifting area for children. For a $10 donation, visitors can sample a large plate of native-inspired food and beverages – and NHPA’s “Native Cookbook” will be available for purchase, along with other Handsell items.
Admission is free and open to the public (food tent donation of $10). Visit www.restorehandsell.org for more information.
