Chesapeake College’s Adult Education and Literacy strives to support students' needs

Chesapeake College’s Adult Education and Literacy team is seeking to support their students’ educational needs.

Their department is adjusting to the ‘new normal.' What ABE/ESL students can expect this fall is available online.

The new normal has brought some changes to the registration process and class organization:

  • Orientation Sessions for ESL/ABE: New Level 1-3 ESL students will attend two orientations in Spanish when a session starts. ABE students will complete an online orientation. These sessions provide new students with the information they need to get settled into classes.
  • The Learning Circle: Students can now join the Learning Circle between registration sessions. Once students are evaluated, they will have one class a week with a tutor until the next class session starts.
  • Evaluations: All students need to be evaluated before they join a class. They can be evaluated at one of the locations (Easton, Greensboro or Wye Mills), or if they have access to a computer and Wifi, they can take the evaluation from home.
  • Face to Face Classes: On-site classes are starting in the fall.
