Eckardt, Beatty tapped for College’s award
WYE MILLS – Maryland Senator and alum Addie Eckardt of Cambridge and businessman Scott Beatty of Easton, both long-time advocates for Chesapeake College, will be honored at the 2016 Pride of the Peake celebration on April 28.
Mr. Beatty is the president and chief executive officer of Shore Bancshares, Inc. a position he has held since June of 2013. Shore Bancshares, Inc. is a $1.1 billion-asset financial holding company headquartered in Easton. It is the largest independent financial services company that offers banking, insurance and wealth management services to families and businesses on the Delmarva Peninsula, which includes south-central Delaware, and the Eastern Shore of both Maryland and Virginia.
Shore Bancshares is comprised of a community of companies including The Talbot Bank, CNB, and the Avon-Dixon Agency, the company’s two full-service community banks. Within its community of companies, they also offer a range of personal and business insurance solutions through Avon-Dixon Agency, LLC, Elliott Wilson Insurance, LLC, Jack Martin & Associates, Inc., and Freestate & Son.
Mr. Beatty’s prior experience includes serving as a Director of Shore Bancshares, Inc. since December 2000, and a Director of The Talbot Bank of Easton, since 1992. Mr. Beatty’s previous position as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) is one he had held since August 2007. Prior to that, Mr. Beatty served as Vice President and COO since July 2006 and as Vice President since October 2004. In addition, Mr. Beatty was also a practicing Certified Public Accountant for 25 years and a partner in the accounting firm Beatty, Satchell & Company, headquartered in Easton from 1977 to 1998.
In addition to Mr. Beatty’s professional career he serves as a director on the boards of Chesapeake Conservancy, Salisbury University Perdue School of Business and Integrace.
A registered nurse and psychiatric nurse specialist, Sen. Eckardt worked at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center in Dorchester County, and was an adjunct faculty member at both Salisbury University and the University of Maryland.
Sen. Eckardt was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 1995 where she represented District 37B until she was elected to the Maryland Senate last year.
The recipient of numerous community awards and legislative honors, Sen. Eckardt received the Recognition Award (school funding and public health education) from the Maryland Association of Counties in 2015.
