SALISBURY - Charles Franklin "Chuck" Walters died Friday, June 29, 2018. Born in Berlin, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert Walters and June Burkholder Baughman.
He was a 1958 graduate of South Hagerstown High School, where he was a member of the track and field team. He served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He retired from Maryland Correctional Training Center after 24 years of service Correctional Officer. He volunteered at The San Mar School and Orphanage, The Joseph House Food Ministry and The Blessing House Food Ministry.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Ford Walters of Salisbury; daughters, Kellie Walters of Maugansville, Md., Kristal Walters Elzey and Susan Driver of Salisbury; stepchildren, Darin Ford of Mount Vernon, Roy Ford of Deal Island and Paula Brown of Parsonsburg; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Burk and Peg Carter of Harrisburg, Pa.; half-sisters, June Baughman and Jane Baughman of Hagerstown, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Mallory Weaklem; a half-brother, William Baughman; and a stepson, Chris Ford.
A funeral service was held Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Immanuel Baptist Church. Interment will be in Wenona Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
