Chamber honors Harvesting Hope on third anniversary

CAMBRIDGE — The Dorchester Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting for Harvesting Hope Youth and Family Wellness, Inc on Oct. 19. It was a very well attended event for their third anniversary in Cambridge.

Omeaka Jackson brought her business back to Cambridge after beginning in the New England area, but felt the need to improve the lives of youth in her home town of Cambridge.

The many in attendance were enlightened with the statistics of current education and opportunities to help with volunteering, etc. Harvesting Hope Youth and Family Wellness is located at 204 Cedar St. in Suite 102 in Cambridge, and can be reached at 443-351-4846 or on the web at www.harvestinghopeinc.org.

They work with local high schools to provide mentoring and peer leadership skills to the next generation of leaders and providing community-based training opportunities to local youth and families in partnership with local community agencies.

Their mission is to uplift the community by working in the community, believing that our youth are our greatest asset. “When we invest in them we invest in the future of our communities. Some people are born leaders while others need guidance and the tools to become leaders. Harvesting Hope, Inc sows these seeds while our youth and community reap the benefits. When we invest in youth we invest in their family.”

The Dorchester Chamber of Commerce is located at 528 Poplar St., Cambridge, and can be reached at 410-228-3575, on the web at www.dorchesterchamber.org
