PRESTON - Carrie Rowena Jones passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2007, surrounded by her family.
She was born June 14, 1925, daughter of the late Samuel E. and Annie Rosetta Green Jones.
Carrie was educated in the public schools of Caroline County.
Her Christian training began at Mount Pleasant Church and was continued at Mount Calvary United Methodist Church in Preston.
Ms. Jones performed various jobs during her working years.
She is survived by seven children: William Jones (Geraldine) of Bridgeville, Del., Maurita Jones, Edwina Price and Thomas Jones of Philadelpha, Cornell Jones (June) and Iola Jones of Preston and Sharon Jones of Cambridge; two sisters, Lottie Friend and Edna Nichols of Preston; one sister-in-law, Ruth Jones of Preston; 15 grandchildren, Bronte Scott, Antonio Jones, Fontella Darden, Maurita Demby, Mia Jones, Earl Frazier III, Shawn Frazier, Tina Cooper, Tyrell Jones, Bradford Thompson, Felicia Murphy, Geraldine Jones; three special friends, Cornell Jones Jr., Tammy Jenkins and ShaRonda Jones; 24 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Alvolya Jones Frazier; four sisters, Evelyn and Martha Jones, Virginia Friend and Mary Webb; and four brothers, Sila, Samuel, James and Herbert Jones.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Calvary UM Church in Preston where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Preston.
Arrangements are being handled by the Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Hurlock.
