DENTON — The Caroline County Department of Emergency Services announced on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. that the county’s seventh positive case of COVID-19 had been identified.

“The individual is a male in his 20s with no underlying health conditions,” a statement from the department said. “We are prohibited by the Maryland Department of Health from releasing the individual’s area of residence due to federal and state privacy laws.

“As the Governor has noted many times, this disease is widespread in our community. It is best to assume that it is in your area and public spaces. It is vital to stay home whenever possible and avoid interactions with those outside your household.

“Please note the state data published by the Maryland Department of Health is reported to them from testing labs. We are in contact with providers doing testing locally and therefore usually receive local information before the State.

“The data on our www.carolinecovid19.org website is updated daily with the most recent local data. The state’s data map may lag behind and therefore show a different number for Caroline County.”

Statewide, by Monday morning there were 3,609 confirmed cases, with 484 new ones in the previous 24 hours. There had been 67 deaths, with 14 in the previous 24 hours.

Maryland has posted 24,728 negative test results and 936 hospitalizations, with 115 new entries in the previous day.
