CAMBRIDGE — Recently, board members of the Care and Share Fund Inc. of Dorchester County donated to the Cambridge Empowerment Center located in the Octavene H. Saunders building at 615B Pine St. in Cambridge.
Operated by The Pine Street Committee Inc, it is the committee’s goal to work with local government, organizations, businesses and individuals to provide safe artistic, recreational and cultural activities for the youth of the community.
“With many children in need of after-school and summer programs, such as the ones the Cambridge Empowerment Center offers, the board members of the Care and Share fund of Dorchester are happy to donate funds to help with the operation of the center,” stated Care and Share board member, Dave Cannon.
Each year in December, Care and Share sponsors the “Santa Swim” a fundraising event at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge to help raise the funds for programs to promote the health and well-being of local youth. Care and Share also works in partnership with the Department of Social Services to provide funds to assist their clients with medical, transportation and other needs.
This year the “Santa Swim” will be held on Dec. 14 at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa And Marina at 100 Heron Blvd. Cambridge.
