The victory brought Cambridge-South Dorchester’s record in the Bayside Conference’s North Division to 4-2, while the Colonels fell to 2-5. C-SD is now tied for second place in the division with Kent County. Undefeated Queen Anne’s leads with a record of 7-0. The Vikes got off to a slow start on their home court Tuesday, and found themselves trailing 2-7 with 2 minutes left in the opening period. They closed the gap to a 7-7 tie at the end of the first quarter, though, after Dre Greene took charge with a couple of baskets and a free throw. The first half also ended with a tie, 16-16, but the Vikings gave hints of what was to come as play turned fast and furious in the closing minutes of the second quarter. The Vikes went on a 15-point tear in the third quarter, with the visitors able to add only 4 to their tally, the first points of which didn’t come until less than a minute was left in the period. C-SD put up another 18 in the fourth quarter, until with 1:50 left on the clock and the score 46-28, Coach Vic Burns sent in backups to finish the action. Big man Ivan Taylor led C-SD’s offense, with 11 points, followed by Moochie Cornish and Emory Wongus, each with 6. * In other basketball news, C-SD’s varsity girls won at Colonel Richardson on Tuesday, 55-45.
