Cambridge-South Dorchester won the Region 1A semifinal, 49-30.[/caption] CAMBRIDGE — It’s on to the Region 1A finals for Cambridge-South Dorchester, following a 49-30 win Friday against visiting Kent County. The win was the Vikings’ 24th straight victory against the Trojans. C-SD (9-2) will head to top-seeded Havre de Grace on Friday. Game time is 7:00 p.m. The third-seeded Trojans came into the game with a regular-season record of 6-4, hoping to avenge a 33-27 overtime loss in Week 4. The game got off to a promising start for the visitors, when Trojans’ quarterback Stevie Curran connected with Marcquan Greene for a 32-yard touchdown at the 9:31 mark of the first quarter. After a missed extra point, the score was 6-0 in favor of Kent County, their only lead of the game. The Vikings hit back a little more than a minute later, when quarterback Nate Lowe ran in from the 11 for a TD. A successful 2-point conversion run by Tre Lake made it 8-6 - the Vikes were ahead, and didn’t look back. During practices this week, though, the Vikings will be looking at not giving up long plays on defense and having players keep their composure - big plays and four personal fouls against C-SD helped the Trojans stay in the game. The Vikings committed nine penalties in total, for 75 yards. The Trojans were flagged six time for 47 yards. Viking scoring in the second quarter featured a run by Lowe, a pick-6 courtesy of Virgil Simms, and an Emory Wongus scoring scamper. For the Trojans, Curran tossed one to Takai Caulk from four yards out, making it 28-12 at the half. In the second half, Viking Tre Lake carried for three more touchdowns on his way to a 31-attempt, 265-yard day. Curran threw 52 yards to Josh Frye, 13 to Marcquan Greene and 27 to Daquan Seymore to complete the Trojans’ scoring. With the Trojans’ running game ineffective, the Kent County boys had to depend on their air attack. Curran went 16-for-34, with two interceptions, for 243 yards. For the Vikes, the reverse was true - when the running game is tearing it up, why throw? Lowe was 1-for-3, no picks and 27 yards. C-SD’s Tyler Harding was 5 of 6 on extra points. For the Vikes’ defense, Emory Wongus, Brandon Tibbs and Landon Warfield each had a sack, while Kristofar Williams earned two. Justin Dorsey was the team’s leading tackler, with five unassisted and four assisted.
