CAMBRIDGE – We would love it if you joined us for our upcoming events at both of our branches to celebrate history and Valentine's Day all month long.
Happenings at both Cambridge & Hurlock Libraries:
- Craft To-Go: Yarn Heart Desk Ornament - This craft has heart. Walk in to either our Central or Hurlock branches to pick up this fun and free Valentine's Day themed craft to-go! Learn how to create your very own Valentine's Day ornament for your desk or create it as a gift for someone you care about. Everything is included in this craft to-go kit. Offered all month-long while supplies last. (For all ages)
- Storytime - Every Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. Catch the storytime fun with your kiddos every week at either our Central Cambridge or the Hurlock branch every week! (For ages 0 to 6)
Happenings at the Cambridge Library:
- Anime Club - Every Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. Cambridge Meeting Room - Meet up with fellow anime lovers weekly for games, episodes and so much more! (For ages 13+)
- Speed Dating with a Book on Feb. 12 at 3 p.m. - Come take a chance on a new-to-you author or genre you've never read before at this special Valentine's Day event. You'll have a few minutes to meet and read a little of your book as well as time to discuss with other readers at the table before the bell tolls and you are off to the next one. Your new favorite book might be waiting for you just around the corner! (Adult program)
- Second Saturday Storytime on Feb. 19 at 10:30 a.m. - Come out to the library for a special Saturday Story Time and stay for the amazing Friends of the Library Booksale! (For ages 0 to 6)
- Stitch & Knit Feb. 16 at 3 p.m. Cambridge Meeting Room - Calling all crafters: Bring your knitting needles or crochet hooks and come craft with us! Don't have a project? Small weaving looms will be available for you to try! Light refreshments will be available.
- Local Author Visit from Stephen Oppenheimer Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. Cambridge Meeting Room - Join us for a special visit from a very local author who lives right here in Cambridge! Stephen Oppenheimer is an Oxford educated neuroscientist who now spends his time writing fiction set in a different era. He will have copies of his book, “A Bone To Pick,” available for purchase after reading an excerpt of his exciting book. (Adult program)
- Local Author Visit from Danielle Spencer has been rescheduled to Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. Cambridge Meeting Room - The snow may have interfered with our plans Jan. 19, but we were able to get this author back this month. Join us for a special visit from the author of the thrilling novel, “Digital Assassins,” inspired by true events. Danielle Spencer, privacy rights advocate and protector of freedom, will be reading an excerpt from her new book and available for discussion. (Adult program)
Happenings at the Hurlock Library:
- Stitch & Knit Feb. 1 at 5:30-6:30 p.m. Hurlock - Calling all crafters: Bring your knitting needles or crochet hooks and come craft with us! Don't have a project? Small weaving looms, crochet hooks and knitting needles will be available for you to try! Light refreshments will be available.
- Valentine's Day Cards Drop-in Craft from Feb. 5-14 - Stop by the Hurlock branch to create your own unique Valentine's Day Cards. (For all ages)
- Special Story Time with Local Author Tina Thompson Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. Hurlock - Local author joins us for a special story time reading of her book, “The Lovable Lions and the Mystery of the Golden Charm.” Held in the “Old Library” building. (For ages 6 - 12)
- STEM Night Snow Slime Feb. 15 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Hurlock - Experience the excitement of STEM at the Hurlock Public Library! Our STEM Night Program has hands-on activities, demos, and presentations on science, technology, engineering, and math. (For all ages)

Be sure to visit and participate in our Blind Date with a Book display and enter our raffle to win a gift card (available at both branches). Be sure to pick up a title from our Black History Month display or find a new favorite or new-to-you book on our Staff Picks display.
Stay a while and enjoy the current puzzle in progress on a table by the Adult Large Print section in Cambridge. Be sure to stop by the President’s Day display in the glass case upstairs by the elevator, set up by local patron David Keyes.
Please note both branches will be closed Feb. 19 in observance of Presidents’ Day.
