MARDELA SPRINGS - Betty Jean Robinson died Monday, May 7, 2018, at Mallard Bay Nursing Home in Cambridge. Born in Preston, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Louise Lord Schevel. She worked as a seamstress for several shirt factories in the area. She was a longtime member of the Uprising Church at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Hebron. She is survived by her children, Robert Hitchens of Virginia Beach, Va., David Robinson of Mardela Springs, Linda J. Abbott of Hebron and Debbie A. Hall of Conway, S.C.; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Jack Schevel and Buddy Schevel; and sisters, Margaret Ann Sellers and Kathy Long; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude C. Robinson, who passed in 2003; a brother, Bill; and sisters, Barbara and Louise. A funeral service was held Monday, May 14, 2018, at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Interment was in Mardela Memorial Cemetery.
