CAMBRIDGE — On July 1, Bethel AME Church in Cambridge dedicated a Little Free Library. The Free Library was built and donated by Kevin Beverly to the Dorchester Retired Educators Association. Little Free Libraries is a nonprofit organization which inspires to promote a love for reading, build community, and spark creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges. Their slogan is “Take A Book • Return A Book.” The books are free to anyone in the community. You may take a book, exchange or return a book, or give a book to a friend. The goal is to welcome participation from within the community and keep the library full at all times. For more information about the Dorchester Retired Educators Free Library program and other locations of their Little Free Libraries, contact Ruth Clendaniel, president, at rclendaniel@atlanticbb.net. For additional information about Little Free Libraries or to purchase books at low cost to donate you may also go to the official Free Library site at Little Free Library.org. Little Free Library has partnered with Interstate Books4School. A portion of every book purchase from Books4School is donated to the Little Free Library organization.
