Bernice Wing Cornish

CAMBRIDGE - Bernice Wing Cornish departed this life on Wed., Apr. 8, 2015 at her home in her sleep. She was born Mar. 24, 1914 in Cambridge to the late, Ralph and Emma Wing. She attended the public schools of Dorchester County and was affectionately called Mom Beash. Bernice worked at various jobs during her life time but the hi-light of her career was working at the Pokety Farms Estate at Col. And Mrs. Edgar Garbisch where she met Bill Cosby, who flew in to view the Garbisch Estate. She loved to read, watch TV, and spend time with her family and friends whenever the opportunity permitted. She joined Zoar United Methodist Church at an early age where she was an active member for over 90 years of her life until her health failed. Bernice loved watching the westerns on TV and she loved her soaps or "stories" as she called them. Bernice also loved to read and had a collection of books and papers. Bernice also loved to fly after taking her first airplane ride to Lansing, Michigan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Elois Stinson Martin; a son, Randall Cornish; a grandson, Kenneth Stinson; her granddaughters, Lois Stinson, Deborah Cornish, and Tevis Cornish; and a great-grandson, Andrew Cornish. Bernice leaves to honor and cherish fond memories a devoted granddaughters, Patricia Stinson Hughes (Marvin who she loved as a grandson) of Hurlock & Rhonda Cornish of Cambridge; other grandchildren, Bradrick Cornish, and Randall Cornish all of Cambridge, Ursula Hughes of Hurlock, April Stinson and Raymond Chase of Georgia; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Also she leaves two very special people, Jamal Pinder of Texas, Patricia (Tishie) Johnson Lee, and Sharon Pinder of Cambridge. Services will be held on Sat., April 18, 2015 1p.m. at Waugh Chapel UM Church 425 High St Cambridge with a viewing two hours prior. Interment in Zoar Cemetery.
