Beau J. Benson, 40

Posted

Beau J. Benson, of Dover, Delaware, passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2026, while vacationing with family in Nags Head, North Carolina.
Beau was preceded in death by his father, R. Dale Benson; his grandparents, Stephen F. Traino, Ralph Benson, and Evelyn Benson.
He is survived by his loving mother, Mary Jo Benson; grandmother, Phyllis Traino; sister, Dana McIntosh, nephews Hayden and Dylan McIntosh; niece Abby McIntosh; godsons Jensen and Royce Orona; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless lifelong friends who loved him dearly.
Beau spent his earliest years on the family farm in Lincoln before growing up in The Hamlet in Dover, where he formed friendships that would last a lifetime. He graduated from Dover High School in 2003, where he was a standout athlete, lettering in both football and baseball. He later earned a degree in Marketing from York College of Pennsylvania in 2008.
Following college, Beau combined his love of people and competition as Poker Room Manager at Dover Downs, a role that suited his outgoing personality perfectly. More recently, he served as Maintenance Manager for Shortcutz Lawn & Landscape Company.
While Beau enjoyed sports, golf, poker, and cheering on his beloved Philadelphia teams, his greatest gift was his ability to bring people together. Whether it was organizing a gathering, planning a day at the beach, watching a game, or simply sharing a laugh, Beau had a way of making everyone feel welcome.
Beau was proud to have served as a “professional best man” for many of his closest friends, a title he wore with honor and enthusiasm. His loyalty to the people he loved was unmatched. Family and friendships were at the center of his life, and he cherished every opportunity to spend time with those closest to him.
Few places brought Beau more happiness than Dewey Beach. He loved the ocean, the sunshine, Sunday Funday traditions, and the countless memories made with family and friends on Read Street. Those beach days became some of the most cherished moments of his life.
Known for his warm smile, infectious laugh, larger-than life personality, and carefree spirit, Beau approached life with optimism and a phrase many will forever associate with him: “I’ll figure it out.” No matter the challenge, he faced life with confidence, humor, and an unwavering belief that things would work out.
Beau was deeply devoted to his family, proud of his Italian heritage, and fiercely loyal to his friends. He lived life fully, loved people generously, and left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Beau’s closest friends for their generosity, support, and unwavering kindness.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, the memories, laughter, friendships, and love he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
