The Vikings’ Khalik Beasley headed for the end zone on one of his three scoring runs during Friday’s win over Colonel Richardson High School.[/caption] CAMBRIDGE — Let’s just hope Khalik Beasley has enough time to catch his breath before this Friday’s game — because after gaining 377 all-purpose yards last week during the Vikings’ 39-32 win over Colonel Richardson, he must have been pretty winded. The win brought Cambridge-South Dorchester’s record on the season to 2-2, while the Colonels fell to 1-3. Both are 1A schools in the Bayside Conference’s Small Schools Division. “I love him to death,” Coach Gaven Parker said of Beasley after the game, noting that his top running back has been dealing with a nagging injury, “fighting a bum ankle.” In fact, Beasley hobbled off the field at one point, and trainer Jess Booze retaped his ankle. Two plays later, Beasley broke free for a touchdown. Not that he won the game all by himself. Senior quarterback Jyquan Farrare had 56 yards through the air and six on the ground. He showed some grit, too - it took a couple of teammates to carry him off the field in the second half, though he came back after being relieved for a few plays by sophomore John Henry. Camren Lake had a nice game, taking over running back duties at times, as he racked up 82 yards hauling the ball. Shamar Young added 30 yards, Dario Belizaire had a few, and Logan Middleton made a brilliant catch over the middle for 32 yards. But it was a back-and-forth affair all game long, with miscues from both teams. The Vikings were sparked by Jay’Zon Roberts, who snagged an interception and ran it back for a Vikes’ score. Beasley was busy on the other side of the ball, too. He led the Vikings’ defense with six solo tackles and three assists. Among the other defensive standouts were Shamar Young, who had two solos and three assists; Malik Ennals two and four; Farrare two and three; Roberts four and two; Jeremy Taylor two and five; Noah Presley two and four; Tyler Stewart one and four; and Avery Nichols two and five. That, along with two lost fumbles by the Colonels, made it difficult for the visitors to prevail. Both squads had trouble with extra points, missing kicks and failing on 2-point conversions. On Friday, the Vikings head to Nandua, Va., to play the 2-3 Warriors. Game time is 7 p.m.
