SALISBURY - Barbara Iles Merritt, 85, died Sunday, June 12, 2016, at her home in Salisbury. Born in Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Gladys Iles. A member of All Hallows Episcopal Church in Snow Hill, during the 1950s she worked for the secretary of Defense as an executive secretary. She and her family had a home in Public Landing for many years before moving to Mallard Landing in Salisbury in 2013. An avid golfer, she was a past president of the Key West Ladies Golf Association and a charter member of Nassawango Golf Course. She is survived by her two sons, Duncan Merritt and Jeffrey Merritt; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Merritt, who died in 1984. A funeral service was held Friday, June 17, 2016, at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Interment was at All Hallows Episcopal Church Cemetery.
