Ballet performs ‘Nutcracker’ at Pleasant Day

CAMBRIDGE – A holiday tradition continued on Nov. 22, when dancers from The Eastern Shore Ballet Theatre, Inc. (ESBT) came to Pleasant Day Medical Adult Day Care Center to present “The Nutcracker.” It was the 11th year the group has performed for clients and staff at the facility.

The dancers were in full costume for the show, which was received with enthusiasm by the audience.

“When they come, they also collect and donate canned goods, art supplies, socks, and other small items for the participants,” a statement from Pleasant Day said. “The presentation is done right before Thanksgiving, and participants are thankful for this show.”

The troupe is based in Salisbury. Founded in 1991, it is a nonprofit company that was formed to provide a classical venue for area dancers and to raise awareness of the art.

“In just a few years, the company has gained statewide recognition for its annual full-length December presentation of ‘The Nutcracker’ and an impressive repertoire of ballets performed during the Spring Gala.”

The ESBT will present the complete show at Wicomico High School on Dec. 1, 2 and 3. Check the website https://esbt.org for more information.
