Audrey M. Adams, 93
SALISBURY, MD - Audrey M. Adams died on January 11, 2024 at Coastal Hospice following a brief illness.
She was born on April 24, 1930 on Hoopers Island, Maryland, the daughter of the late Arthur W. Phillips and Ethel M. Phillips. After attending Hoopers Island High School she married William L Adams, raising two children at their home on Hoopers Island. She was employed at A.E. Phillips and Sons Seafood and was instrumental in the operation of Adams Brothers Seafood. Later, she moved to Salisbury, Maryland where she was employed as the manager of the Sheraton Hotel Restaurant. After leaving the Sheraton, she was employed at Phillips Seafood House in Ocean City, Maryland as a waitress until she retired at the age of 83. Her love and expertise in gardening helped the Phillips Seafood House win awards for the most beautifully landscaped property.
Audrey acquired a love of antiques and could often be found at auctions all over the Eastern Shore. Additionally, she took great in pride in her house, decorating it for all seasons.
She became known throughout Salisbury for both her indoor and outdoor holiday displays which were featured in the newspaper. Her beautiful Christmas village decorations in her home were once filmed by a local TV news station. Audrey was a member of the Riverside Wesleyan Church in her early years, and later attended the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church and Asbury United Methodist Church. She had a passion for domestic and international travel.
Audrey visited multiple states, cruised the Caribbean and traveled to England, Ireland, Germany, France and Switzerland with her family. Her adventurous spirit took her to far off places, where she created cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who were with her.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean Simmons (Raymond) of Cambridge, Maryland and a son, David Adams (Marni) of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. Additionally, she is survived by her grandsons, Brett Simmons, Peter Adams (Mike), step grandsons, Devin (Savannah) Popper and Nolan Popper and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson Steven Simmons.
Funeral services will be held at Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, 308 High Street Cambridge, Maryland on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Interment following the service will be private.
