Arthur Mace Smith
CAMBRIDGE - Arthur Mace Smith, 85, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at his residence.
He was born in Cambridge on April 16, 1922 and was a son of the late Floyd and Mary Ruth Edwards Smith.
Mr. Smith attended school in Dorchester County. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in 1943 until he received his honorable discharge in 1946. On Feb. 13, 1947 he married the former Doris Mae Bramble who passed away on Feb. 7, 1999.
Mr. Smith worked for Cambridge Wire Cloth for 40 1/2 years and worked part-time at Economy Printing in Easton.
He enjoyed watching sports. He was a member of the American Legion Post 91.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandy Hurley of Cambridge and Connie Lewis of Cambridge; two grandchildren, Hubert Brohawn III of Hurlock and Karrie Koski currently serving in the U.S. Navy stationed in Japan; three great-grandchildren, Jason Cantville, Jackson Brohawn and Caroline Brohawn; two brothers, Luther Smith of Easton and Robert Smith; two sisters, Nancy Barrack of Cambridge and Gladys Murphy of Arbutus; several nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Vetra Hurley of Salisbury.
Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Smith.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Mason, Eddie Lloyd, Jason Martin, Sidney Keyes, Keith Murphy and Eddie Bramble. Honorary pallbearers will be Kehoe Lewis and Ronnie Hurley.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. Douglas M. Ridley and Pastor Jerry Wade officiating. Burial will follow at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery near Hurlock.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
